Every Picture Tells A Story
Every picture tells a story… The song by Rod Stewart brought a thought to mind when I look at this gorgeous room shot. Sometimes it is hard to know or appreciate every detail that is considered when we make a room come to life. In the case of this room, the actual pictures tell a story in quite a unique way.
When we planned this room, we had not yet considered how the art, the pictures would tell the story. The art not only in detail itself but of the story of how the art actually arrived and how that all came together to make the perfect room.
Two of the original prints by Peter Keil were found and framed in these beautiful mirrored frames acquired by Trowbridge over 5 years ago. They were perfect for this space only we wanted more. The good news was we were able to get our hands on two more prints, but the frames were not available they were out of production. We worked for months with our manufacturer to be able to match these. It was looking bleak. One day out of the blue we received the call, that they had finally arrived in London and were the perfect match. In our excitement that this was finally going to happen, we stepped up our overall game by adding even more of our beautifully framed leaf fragmented silver leaf prints by John Richard. The frames from London were going to take two weeks and the art by John Richards was going to be three weeks, but in our on-demand world, that was going to be too long to wait for the excitement of seeing this all come together. Our vendors pulled it together for us in 3 days a feat that is almost impossible for anyone.
Now, remember when we were told that the frames from London were not available? Well, we had to improvise with yet more creativity for two more important and meaningful pieces that were presented to me as a birthday gift, by the talented photographer Parker Shackelford, my inspiration for our Parker Lauren Collection (who happens to be my granddaughter). We matted that art on mirrors to replicate the frames. Now with all the mats matching and all the mirrors reflecting we had our look.
This was not easy, but it was all possible because we have the best relationships with our vendors and trade relationships. They want us to look good for you and for you to find value in what we do, to know that when you work with a designer you get “your picture-perfect room”. Also, this takes a village, and, in my village, it is all possible with the best project manager in the world! This also is captured with the picture-perfect skills of our valuable photographers that work with us so we may take that perfect picture. So really, “every picture tells a story don’t it”.
